Apparently, Bowie wrote ‘Drive-In Saturday‘ especially for Mott The Hoople (after they had a hit with Bowie’s song ‘All The Young Dudes’). Mott The Hoople turned down ‘Drive-In Saturday’ because they wanted to start writing and performing their own songs.
