David Bowie performs ‘That’s Motivation’ from Absolute Beginners

Bowie's second major contribution to the 1986 film

With a backing track based on the opening bars of the song ‘Absolute Beginners‘, ‘That’s Motivation’ is Bowie’s second major contribution to the film Absolute Beginners.

That’s Motivation is Bowie’s big number in the film, allowing him to tap-dance on the keys of a giant typewriter as the repulsive advertising executive he plays introduces the hero to “the world of your dreams… where you can commit horrible sins and get away with it,” and urges him to “learn to fall in love with yourself”.
