Mick Rock filmed and directed the promotional video for ‘Life On Mars‘ backstage at the Blandford West Ten Studio in Ladbroke Grove on 13 June 1973 to accompany the release of the song as a single just nine days later. It features a heavily made-up Bowie performing the song solo against a white backdrop, in a turquoise “ice-blue” suit designed by Freddi Buretti.
This video is an outtake from the filming, and features a single camera shot of Bowie in black and white, in stark contrast to the stark colours of the final video.
